As you may know, mostly from the bombardment of photos on Instagram and Facebook, I've recently been to Florida on my honeymoon. The whole two weeks was so tiring but absolutely amazing (more to come on that I'm sure) but there is one night in particular that sticks out in my mind more than any other night we spent there.
One evening we were walking around looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled upon a little place called BB Kings Blues Club. It looked pretty busy, which is usually a good sign, and it was getting late so we decided to book a table for the following day for dinner. We were so glad we did!
We arrived there just before 7:30pm and there was an entry fee of $10 each as there was a live band on which we weren't expecting. This was fine for us, as an ex-musician I was happy to pay knowing how difficult making a living out of music can be. They sat us right next to the stage and we ordered some cocktails. This was the only night we decided to actually drink on the entire holiday and it was so worth it! The cocktails were amazing, the first one was a little more money than the rest as you got to keep the glass. We bought one of each size at first and then just decided what we fancied. Unfortunately only one of our giant 45oz glasses survived the journey home which we were absolutely gutted about!
When we got our food it was so nice. I had chicken and ribs (my favourite) and Nicky had some seafood - they were both yummy meals! We skipped dessert and went straight for more cocktails instead. Well why not? There was a band on, we were singing along; it was a proper party!
The band that were performing that night, The Lucille Performers, were brilliant! Such a talented bunch of people, we loved listening to them. They played so many different songs in their two sets they did whilst we were there and had everyone up and dancing, particularly toward the end of the night. They did shout-outs during the night as well and Nicky told one of the managers we were on our honeymoon, so they told the whole club! Not long after this the staff at the club brought us a chocolate brownie with cream and ice cream on the house, beautifully presented with the word 'honeymoon' written around the outside of the bowl in chocolate sauce. It was so yummy and such a lovely gesture from them all.
We continued drinking, dancing and having the best night right until the end when the band finished playing. We were enjoying it that much that we lost track of the time so missed the last bus back to the hotel. Thankfully there were taxis outside so we managed to get straight back afterwards. Getting up early the following morning for our day out was definitely hard work!
I would 100% recommend people go to this place if they find themselves staying on International Drive in Florida and want somewhere to go for a fun night as we had the best time and we are so glad we decided to check it out!
Are there any gems local to you that you absolutely love? Where is your favourite place to go out with friends?
