On Bank Holiday Monday, Nicky and I were out and about in our local town running a few errands and decided we fancied getting some lunch somewhere - something we hadn't done for quite a while. Our usual café that we go to was closed with it being Bank Holiday, so we found somewhere else to eat, somewhere new. And we are so glad we did!
We stopped off at a little teashop called the Teaspoon Tea Company which is located in Grantham George Centre. We walked in and it was a beautiful place! There is a wall of tea behind the counter, the counter itself was full of homemade cakes which all looked gorgeous - it was hard to pick one!
We went to the counter and placed our order with some lovely ladies who were so welcoming and full of smiles. Nicky ordered his de-caf tea and I asked for 'normal tea'. I'm not a tea expert in the slightest, I didn't realise just how many 'normal' types would be on offer! They asked if I liked strong tea, which I very much do, so they recommended Irish Breakfast tea. It was amazing!
Everything was 'proper' tea. Tea leaves and teapots, and this this little egg timer which told us how long we should brew before we drink. It was a new experience for both of us and it was nice not just dunking a couple of teabags in a pot and then it tasting stale the further down the pot you get.
I chose a sandwich, with crisps, and a (huge and really yummy) slice of Red Velvet cake. Usually I go for something really chocolatey but I decided to try something a bit different. Nicky also had a sandwhich, crisps and carrot cake (his favourite) which he kept telling me the whole time he was eating it how nice it was. For the quality of the food and how much it filled us up the price was really reasonable.
There is also a little shop to one side where you can by all sorts of little bits, as well as bags of loose tea leaves! I was very tempted, we have decided that when we move we'll buy a proper tea set so we can get some of these tea leaves and have some decent tea at home.
The Teaspoon Tea Company was a beautiful little place, we would 100% go back there again. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a cup of tea and slice of cake. It's a really relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service and good prices!
