Hello! I hope you are enjoying my healthy jotting series so far. I had planned to do it as a set amount of posts but I've decided to make it more of a rolling thing on my blog.
So, I've adopted a big lifestyle change recently - intermittent fasting! Yes, I've started the 5:2. I'm actually finding it easier than I expected which has made it feel so much more realistic that I'll be able to reach my goals and get healthier.
I've been overweight my whole life, too overweight over the last 5-6 years. I've lost lots of weight, put it all back on again, lost even more then put even more back on. I am currently the heaviest I have ever been and I don't feel healthy in the slightest. Exercise is a big thing for me to aid weight loss though! I went to the gym a lot for the best part of 8-10 months, then I just stopped. I love the gym but I just haven't had the motivation to go back. Until now...!
A usual week at the gym consists of BodyCombat, Clubbercise and Spin class. I love all of these. Occasionally I will do Aquafit, Zumba and Body Pump, but these three are my favourites. I've also had an invite to a pole dancing class which I am very, very tempted by! I just need to get myself some little shorts to do it in!
Les Mills BodyCombat:

It's a martial arts inspired workout that helps you with your cardio fitness. Includes moves from Karate and Teakwondo amongst others. It's fun, it's upbeat and you feel like you've had a really good work out following this. I find it really good for stress, which may not be what it's for, however the punching and kicking (non-contact) is definitely a reliever for me! There's low intensity options too if you're not used to it, or you need to take it a bit steadier for whatever reason.

Love a night out having a dance? Don't really like the idea of a full on workout? Clubbercise could be for you! Armed with glow sticks and disco lights, you dance away to lots of well known tracks. It's the most fun you can have in a gym and you don't feel like you're working out but you feel so energised afterwards! Singing along to the songs is encouraged and you can enjoy it with your friends, no matter how much you all dislike exercising!

My spin classes, or Coach by Colour, is a cycling workout which mixes sprints and hill climbs to music. Your bike turns different colours dependant on the intensity of the section you are in. I honestly don't know as much about this workout, I just enjoy cyling to the tracks more than anything else. It's hard work and you can feel it in your legs for a few days but it's so worth it! My biggest tip, if you're going to start doing any sort of cycling workout, buy yourself a gel seat as it makes it so much easier on your bottom!

I hope you try these workouts, and even more importantly - enjoy them! Maybe give Aquafit, Zumba or BodyPump a go too? I will need to get to these more often so can do another post some time in the future on these ones! I shall also let you know how my pole dancing goes! Remember to keep a bottle of water with you when you exercise, especially for intense workouts, as you will need to keep hydrated throughout these.
