May the Force be with You

May 16, 2018

I don't often share it much on here as it rarely fits into the rest of what I write about but when it comes to superheroes and sci-fi I am a bit of a geek.  So when I saw that Byron's Brasserie at Colwick Hall were doing a Star Wars themed afternon tea, I peed my pants a little!

We arrived and the room had trees around the walls, similar to that from the Potty for Peter decor but instead of blossoms there were photos and quotes from the Star Wars films.

The cocktail menu was handed to us on arrival so we could sit and read it whilst we waited for our table.  The cocktails varied from gin and tonic based cocktails, Prosecco and non-alcoholic goodies suitable for children.  I opted for (of course) one of Princess Lauren's Prosecco cocktails called The Star.  It was a yummy mix of Limoncello and raspberries with Prosecco.  Nicky's Rhubarb gin cocktail also looked amazing.  He is a big gin fan so he was pleased there was so much choice in the Jin-1 Blooms collection!

The food all came, well presented as always, with Intergalactic sandwiches, Supreme savouries, scones and of course plenty of out of this glaxay cakes and sweet delights!

The sandwiches were all really well made with plenty of filling.  These were tomato, cream cheese and watercress, smoked chicken and lemon mayonnaise and a beefalette wrap with crispy onions.  We even had a Ham Solo panini alongside which came out still perfectly warm.  The savouries followed with Princess leek and potato soup (in another of their adorable mini soup mugs) and an Emperor burger which had a BLUE bun!  It looked amazing and tasted equally as good.

Next up was the scones.  As you may already know (I'm sure I have mentioned it), I adore scones with cream and jam during afternoon tea - it's my favourite part!  These were slightly different in that they had a cherry compote and vanilla cream rather than jam and the usual clotted cream you often get and they were chocolate chip scones instead of fruit.  I really enjoyed them and thought they were different yet still fitted in well with the afternoon tea.

We then had the cake which is Nicky's favourite part!  As per usual, I had to take some home as I couldn't eat it all but I couldn't face the thought of not having them!

In the selection this time was Chewie's toffee and pecan cookie, The Wise One's lime and chocolate cheesecake (complete with little Yoda ears), Planet destroyer chocolate cupcake and - my favourite - BB's white chocolate and orange pop cake.  Nicky's favourite was the cookie!

And of course, all of this served with tea or coffee!

Colwick Hall have not yet failed to impress me with their themed afternoon teas.  Click the photo links below to read up about some others I have had with them.

Colwick also kindly gave me a list of others that are coming up:

The Chamber Opens

Silly Old Bear

Elf on the Shelf

Call them on 0115 9500 566 for more information and to book.  This afternoon tea is also available in GLUTEN FREE.
