Grantham has had an unfortunate time of restaurants and shops left right and centre. As my hometown, it was starting to get quite frustrating for us as we didn't always get a chance to try new places before they closed. However, a new place has recently opened in the town centre which has added a massive change to Grantham.
Cinco Lounge is a new branch of The Lounges, a chain across the UK that offers a unique and comfortable environment for food and drinks. Open from 9am to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday and 9am to 12am Thursday to Saturday, Cinco offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, a children's menu, vegan and gluten free menus and a full bar. They also have lots of board games for all ages and something that I found amazing; a book swap! This is basically a book shelf with books that you can come, sit and read in a chilled environment. Leave some books there that you enjoyed for other people to sit and read.
There is a really warm environment at Cinco, they make everyone feel welcome - even dogs are allowed (as long as they follow the Canine Code of Conduct!) making it the perfect family venue.
Dog treats and water bowls are available for dogs that visit Cinco. This is a great feature to have somewhere like this!
I was really lucky to be able to go down to Cinco and meet the manager and have a chat about the Lounges, the menus and all of the things they have on offer. I found out some great things about Cinco such as this Lounge got it's name from the Squadron 5 that planned the Dambusters raid in a house in Grantham. All the Lounges in the chain end in an 'o'; Paramo in Solihull, Caballo in Surrey and Cappello in Newcastle-under-Lyme just to name a few. It's a great day of linking them all together!
I often have to have gluten free food and nine times out of ten the menu at cafes and restaurants is limited to one or two gluten free pasta dishes and maybe a pizza or sandwich. So imagine my excitement when there was a whole menu! Also, I know that vegans sometimes struggle to eat in places. There is also a whole menu of vegan food just for you guys! There is also a full kids menu which is great for the little ones that come to visit. Whilst I was there I saw that the staff that were around were great with some of the kids that were there, encouraging them to play and eat their food in between. It was so refreshing to see.
As you can see above, they also offer a yummy cocktail menu. I can certainly vouch for the Raspberry Fizz and the Raspberry Mojito. I clearly like raspberries...
Every week, Cinco do a couple of special nights. These include Monday quiz nights from 8pm with a cash prize for the winning team and a Tapas Tuesday night. We went down to the Tapas Tuesday night and sampled some of the food they had on offer. It's three Tapas dishes and a glass of house wine for £9.99.
We got ourselves six dishes and a glass of wine each; halloumi & sweetcorn fritters, spinach & goat's cheese croquettes, salt & pepper squid, beef & pork meatballs, smoked paprika & pulled chicken & chorizo and some buttermilk chicken. The food was really tasty and the house wine was served at perfect temperatures. My rosé was nice and chilled and Nicky's red was a perfect room temperature. We got a little basket of bread each too which finished the meal off nicely.
For the price you pay at Cinco, you get everything. Good food, good drinks, good service and a lovely atmosphere. There is nothing like Cinco in Grantham so if you haven't been yet, you need to!
Ensure you go and visit Tapas Tuesday, head down to the quiz for a few drinks and a good laugh. Take your kids there for lunch or pop in on the way back from a dog walk for a refreshing drink and something for your pup.
You really can go there on any and every occasion!
Let me know how you like it, what is a must have at Cinco that I haven't mentioned and that I need to try next time I go?
