Summer makeup

July 5, 2018

Now, in normal weather I have full coverage, big eyes and bold lips.  However this British summertime weather is killing me (not complaining) and I can't cope with full coverage!  So I wanted to show you a little bit of what I do in the summer to get nice makeup without melting away!  Something really natural and sheer coverage is perfect for this time of year.

Prime

I can't stand heavy primer right now.  Today my skin was feeling really dry so I opted to use a very light, hydrating moisturiser and cooling eye gel on my face before foundation.  This combination is great for summer months as it feels refreshing.

Face

I usually use very full coverage foundation; Estée Lauder Doublewear, Kat Von D Lock It or Urban Decay All Nighter.  However in the summer I like to use a foundation that feels lighter on my skin; Maybelline Fit Me in shade 105.  I'm usually super-pale but in the summer my skin gets ever so slightly darker so this shade suits perfectly.  I buff it on with a brush and set it with some Maybelline Fit Me Translucent pressed powder.  I hate baking my face and using loose powder in the summer.  I also use my holy grail concealer, Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define on my under eyes, around my nose and my chin.

Eyes

I love a bit of shimmer in the summer, it feels like a summer colour.  I wanted to try out my new Trifle Cosmetics eyeshadow and I went for a pink and brown combination.

This eyeshadow lasted really well throughout the day.  I hadn't heard of Trifle Cosmetics until Glossybox sent me one in their Daydreamer box, then I received a nude lipstick by them in the Betty Box I reviewed back in May.   I finished the eye look off with a bit of Miss Baby Roll mascara by L'Oreal.

Bronze, blush & pop!

I wanted to make sure my bronze was natural, my cheeks looked healthy and my cheekbones popped with shimmer.  I used my favourite Bronze Goddess bronzer to give me a bit more of a healthy colour on my pale-ass face then I used my favourite blush by Benefit cosmetics to add some colour.  This blusher is pink but isn't too over the top so worked perfectly with this look.

To make this look pop, I used my Bronze Goddess highlighter which was in the range last year although any gold highlighter will look amazing for summer!

Setting spray

My holy grail setting spray is Urban Decay All Nighter but I can't stand it in this heat!  I recently received a Too Faced Peach Mist setting spray and this is perfect for summer.  It smells so good and is light but still holds it all in place for the day.

BEAUTY TIP:  To make your highlight pop even more, whilst the setting spray is still wet brush a little more onto your cheekbones.

Finish off with a subtle lipstick or gloss.  You don't want anything too bold so nude or light browns and pinks are the best ones to use!

So that's a few tips I have for my summer makeup.  Nothing heavy, yet it's still effective.  What are your must have makeup products or tips for summer?
