I love the song, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham. It's up there with my favourites! And when I first saw this game, and every time I see the box, I have a little sing-song. The song is fun, everyone loves playing it, and it's great to dance to. But is this game fun, just like the song? Keep reading to find out!
Jitterbug is a game by University Games, suitable for ages 4+ and for 2-4 players. Upon opening the box and reading the instructions, I knew it was going to be a simple game to understand which is just what I need, especially on a Thursday night after a long old week!
The aim of the game is to get all of your coloured legs onto the bug whilst it jitters across the table without them falling off. Which of course, they do fall off... It does. not. stop. moving! It feels impossible at the start but as you get used to it, you find more legs stay on. Don't ask how or why, I guess you just develop a knack for it!
The game is fast paced and hilarious; people getting frustrated because their legs are falling off, the legs then flying everywhere, you can't find your legs because Jitterbug is on top of them hiding them from view, and the whole game descends into complete chaos.
To start the Jitterbug, you have to press the hat on it's head and the game starts. Once all of your legs are on the bug, you have to press the hat again to stop it moving. If one of your legs falls off before you can press the hat down, you will need to get the bug jittering again to continue the game.
Jitterbug is a really simple game, but so fun, hilarious and effective. It makes for a great game for the whole family - we don't have kids but we are obsessed with it just the two of us apparent 'grown ups'. I would definitely recommend Jitterbug to you for a great laugh! It would make a great gift at Christmas for kids or even adults that love to have game nights!
