Life on board...
Cruising is all about visiting different places, but of course a large amount of time is spent on board. Much of the sailing is done in the evenings and all night, if the ship doesn't dock at all it is known as a “sea day”.
So what do the passengers do with themselves on a sea day? We'll there is absolutely loads going on, and I will briefly cover some of activities to give you an idea of what's on offer.
We'll start with typical morning activities. After your breakfast (more about food another time) you could join in a keep fit class, or do your own thing in the fully equipped gym. We usually go for a few brisk laps around the top deck, as do other like minded ramblers.
There are organised deck games during the day, and in between anyone can use the equipment, including quoits, table tennis and archery.
If that all seems a bit energetic there is a spa on board where all manner of things go on such as hot stones, massages, facials and acupuncture. These do incur a charge, however everyday there are free seminars / demonstrations and taster sessions either in the spa or in one of the public areas.
As the day goes on, so the variety of activities continues. Dance lessons, cookery lessons, seminars on the next destination, quizzes, art and craft sessions and whist drives. You may want to wander around the shops, browse in the library, try your luck in the casino or go to the cinema.
In between there are various bars / coffee shops, and of course there is always food available.
I must admit though that we actually don't do many activities, we like to make the most of our sea days enjoying the sunshine!
